The Inn's History

The history of The Inn On Market in New Wilmington, PA spans more than 200 years; through the centuries, it has been a private home for numerous families and has housed commercial businesses.

The building was rescued in the 1980s by the Ayres family, who invested many hours and even more funds to return it to the beautiful structure the inn occupies today. For many years, Mrs. Ayres operated Patrick Henry, an upscale antique and gift shop. Following closure of the shop, the Ayres’ daughter, Elizabeth, lived here with her family, further improving the property. In 2021, Elizabeth and her husband Daniel sold the building, enabling it to become The Inn On Market, a historic B&B offering an inviting alternative to hotels in Western Pennsylvania’s Amish country.
